As a CCIA member and DISE committee member,  I have a front-row seat into the dizzying state of the cannabis and hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoid regulation and how the DCC, California legislature, and recent actions by Governor Newsom are affecting your cannabis business.

As you experience every day, it has become harder and harder to compete against Delta-9 hemp-derived products being sold at large alcohol retailers, e-commerce delivered by the US Postal Service, and at many gas station mini-marts, grocery stores, etc., while no 15% excise tax or local cannabis tax is assessed on those sales (on top of regular sales tax) like they are at a DCC-licensed cannabis retail store. Illegal cannabis operators continue to maintain an estimated 66% market share in California.
