2025 Cannabis Prisoner Unity Day April 17
FROM THE ORGANIZERS:
2025 Cannabis Prisoner Unity Day April 17
Request for Support & Publicity – Cannabis Prisoners Unity Day,
4/17/25 in Washington, D.C.
On April 17, 2025, Craig Cesal will host Cannabis Prisoners Unity Day,
a powerful gathering dedicated solely to the cause of cannabis
incarceration. The event will take place from 11 AM to 3 PM at a
modern meeting space located at 1100 13th St NW, Washington, D.C.
Craig Cesal was sentenced to life in prison in 2002 for a non-violent
marijuana conspiracy. After serving 19 years, he was granted clemency
by President Donald Trump on the final day of his first term—thanks in
large part to the advocacy of Alice Johnson, Trump’s now-pardon czar.
Craig has since become a symbol of second chances and the potential
that exists beyond incarceration.
The mission of this event is simple and urgent:
To highlight Craig’s success post-incarceration and directly appeal to
President Trump to release the approximately 2,000 federal cannabis
prisoners still behind bars.
Craig will be joined by me, Travis Cullen, and over 20 other formerly
incarcerated cannabis prisoners and justice-impacted family members.
At age 21, I was sentenced to federal prison as a first-time,
non-violent offender. After serving my time, I’ve spent the last 12
years rebuilding my life—and the past two years participating in
Minnesota’s legal cannabis industry through the low-dose hemp program.
Meanwhile, people like my friend Edwin Rubis, who has served 27 years
for a cannabis offense, remain incarcerated. That is unacceptable.
