Yesterday the Black Founders in Cannabis Panel met in Carlsbad to host 3 dynamic speakers and hear their experiences navigating the cannabis space, and what obstacles they had to overcome.
Moderated by Taryell Simmons, host of the Rise Urban Nation podcast, the panel featured Danicka Brown-Frazier – Co-Founder, Greenish Brands, JM Balbuena – Author & Co-Founder, JAXX Cannabis, and Sandra Guynes – Kush Nurse, Co-Founder & Community Organizer.
The women shared their experiences of ramping up their businesses in the face of endless obstacles, and then share what strategies they used in overcoming those same obstacles.
Event organizer Olamiji Pearse said “This women’s edition panel event, featuring black women who have made significant contributions to the cannabis industry was diverse amongst itself. I’m grateful for a space that acknowledges the importance to recognize and celebrate the achievements of black women founders and the challenges they face. We must continue to support and uplift black founders in the cannabis industry and create opportunities for their growth and success.”
Sandra Guynes added “As an entrepreneur in the cannabis space, I have faced many challenges and there always seems to be another obstacle ahead. Collaboration, connection and community are the key in navigating these nuanced issues in the cannabis space. Open discussions like this provide an opportunity for our experiences and resources to be shared and help attendees avoid the same challenges as well as learn valuable information to perhaps get their cannabis business right from the start.”
The event was organized by Greenish Vibes in partnership with Jaxx Cannabis, Herahub in Carlsbad and the San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce.
