Welcome back, everyone, to another strain review!
This week, I’m trying out Night Sky from A Golden State. Russ from San Diego Cannabis Times did me a favor because this strain was perfect for the days following my marathon.
I needed something relaxing, and Night Sky was just right.
First off, this is one of the most beautiful bud structures I have seen. The leaves are a light green, coated in a layer of trichomes that give them a frosty white appearance. Throughout the nug, there are patches of red pistils that look like tiny fires in a snowstorm of trichomes. Finally, there are small spots of purple, giving this bud a look similar to the night sky, filled with stars (trichomes)! This bud was also perfectly cured—you could pull it apart without tearing or crumbling in your hands, striking the ideal balance between too wet and too dry.
When you crack open the jar, you’re hit with a strong whiff of sweet berries, subtle wood notes, and a soap-like after-smell. Honestly, I kept putting my nose to the grinder, thinking this would make for a perfect hand soap or lotion that you’d love to keep smelling throughout the day! Even if you don’t usually like the smell of cannabis, you’ll probably enjoy this scent.

The taste is similar to the smell, with a few differences. At first, there’s a slight peppery burn on the front end, likely from the caryophyllene, giving it a bit of a bite. This is then covered up by a sweet berry flavor and a very subtle wood or maple taste. The flavor is light and not overpowering, but it lingers in your mouth, making you want more. I’d compare it to a good old-fashioned cocktail—sweet with a bit of a bite, allowing you to savor each hit while craving more.
Now, let’s get into the high or effects and why it’s perfect after intense workouts. Most strains give you a tingle from your temples down your body when you smoke. However, Night Sky feels like someone is lying a blanket over your whole body with each hit. I went from running errands to just wanting to lay down and watch a movie. Night Sky made me relax and rest, which is hard for me to do but was much needed. Overall,
