Welcome back to my strain reviews. This week will be the first negative Strain Review I have done, but I have to be honest to the readers. This is also the reason I tell people to never follow a brand blindly.
Cream of the Crop used to be one of my favorite cannabis companies. Their Martian Berries they came out with over 2 years ago still sits in my Top 5 Strains! Unfortunately they have gone downhill since then. I still like and recommend their FSO because of the different ratios. I have helped many people with cancer and other ailments and loved their products for a while. Lack of attention to strains and terpenes have led me to stray away from them.
Let us start with this strain, Crop’s Pop. It is a cross of (Sunset Sherb x Runtz) and Jealousy. All of these strains are hybrid or indicas and reading this I should/would expect a heavy relaxing hybrid. However they labeled this a hybrid Sativa. It did have an ok hybrid feeling but nothing that stood out one way or the other. I have noticed them mislabeling for almost two years. It first started with their sister company West Coast labeling their Black Jack as an indica. Jack is a strong sativa!
I have also found a lot of their indicas having large amounts of limonene. Someone like myself, who reacts highly to limonene, it can keep me up at 2 in the morning instead of sleeping like I intended. I have told multiple sales reps and brand ambassadors this but still see no change. This is why labeling and looking at terpenes are important!
Total THC: 33.72%
Total CBD: .04%
Flavor: Sweet citrus smell, yet earthy.
Effects: Effective for a short period, but let me energized rather than calm.
I tried the small nugs of the Crop Pop so I’m not able to describe the structure. I’m fine with small buds because they still get the job done and it all goes in the grinder anyways, but man these were small. The best “small” nugs I have seen are the B size from Connected and Alien Labs. When I opened the jar it had a faint sweet citrus smell. The taste was about the same. Kind of bland or earthy but with a small sweet taste and I think the high was the same. It wasn’t bad but just left a lot to be desired.
I unfortunately give this strain at 2.8 out of 5 flames. Still got me high for a few hours but nothing to be desired. I prefer finding strains that motivate me or slide a certain way. When picking your strains or when you are growing, think why you are choosing a strain? What do you want from the effects, look, taste, etc. If you just cross the hot strains during that year instead of pheno-hunting for a purpose this is what you get!
