Well this week I’m trying a phenotype of one of my favorite strains Jack Herer! The reason I love Jack Herer so much is because just like the advocate himself, the strain provides an uplifting effect. This is perfect to get you off your couch and start a movement…. Or just your chores list you have been putting off. Now what I love about the J-1 is that it still provides an energetic high like the jack, the Skunk #1 crossed with it is going to give it a nice relaxing effect on the body giving this a perfect blend for a hybrid sativa dominant flower.
The first thing that caught my eye from Team Elite Genetics is the packaging. Right off the bat, I loved that they had a box! If you read my last review you know I’m a big advocate for companies to put their jars in boxes. This provides protection not only for the jar but also to prevent any light changing the colors of your bud. Shops are often brightly lit, so make sure your product is protected no matter what shop picks you up. The second thing I loved about the packaging is the information right there on the box. Not only do they put the crosses, but they also break down all their percentages for the cannabinoids and the top terpenes! This allows a budtender or patient to understand what they are purchasing and effects before trying it out.
If it’s dark or has purple i know it’s not a jack or the other cross is more dominant. The second thing to tell if it’s a good jack is that strong Terpinolene smell. Jack is very distinct and will most likely be the most pungent terpene coming off the bud. What I like about this J1 is that it has the nice Jack smell, but then has a citrusy tangy smell followed by the SKUNK funk! I tend to like my flower more on the gassy or funky side and that’s exactly what this J1 does. You have the sweet almost piney from the jack then a super skunky aftertaste that lingers for a bit! I give the taste and smell a good 4.0 flames out of 5.

Overall I think Team Elite Genetics did a fantastic job. This is not the first and will not be the last J1 I will try. This was however in the Top 3 of them. The taste, smell, and effect are all there. The packaging is the best I might have seen. I will definitely get this strain again and am excited to try out the other strains in their line up.
