Smokin’ Local: Antheia Cannabis
15 years ago Tom and Anjie Perkins were working trad jobs, Tom as a freelance contractor specializing in custom water fountains, and Anjie, an executive administrator with Petco and LPL Financial.
Meanwhile, Tom and Anjie always had a knack for growing cannabis, and the time came to pivot to cultivating cannabis as a business venture.
Amid the housing market burst in 2009, they saw the need to leave those economy -dependent jobs and opened a Mission Gorge Road dispensary, with Tom running the retail and Anjie managing their house brand grow.
Fast forward to 2026 and by now they’ve teamed up to run Antheia Cannabis in La Mesa.
Lovingly curated with strain names after local landmarks, the line up is straight up San Diego, Skyfari, Tourmaline, Spruce Street Bridge. Even Mr. Frosty in PB gets a shout out.
When asked about Antheia’s branding, Anjie said “Oh, we’re lucky. I have tattoo artist who was a friend first. He understood what we were looking for and he came back with set of images blending White Lotus and the surf brand Roxy. “I liked how he merged the two.”

Devil’s Punch Bowl
