Project Background

On November 16, 2022 (06), the Board of Supervisors authorized the transfer of the Cannabis Licensing Program from the Sheriff’s Department to Planning & Development Services. The California Board of State and Community Corrections provides grant funds to local governments that assist with local programs to address public health and safety impacts associated with the implementation of Proposition 64. In the Fall of 2022, PDS applied for this grant to enhance licensing and enforcement activities.  In the Spring of 2023, the Board of State and Community Corrections accepted and awarded PDS $2,092,520.
