Yesterday The San Diego Cannabis Times finished its latest rankings for Best Overall Selection, Best Flower Selection and Best Vape Selection. Pre Rolls, Edibles, Drinks and Concentrates were also ranked. A few things stood out.
Cake House Mission Valley opens and heads straight to #1 in overall selection. Taking over the location of the former SDRC/Cannabis 21+ space, The Cake House will also soon be opening in Sorrento Valley, Rancho Bernardo and Lemon Grove.
Herb N Joy Chula Vista This is the second Chula Vista to close in the last 12 months, after Element 7 closed a year ago. This comes as little surprise in Herb N Joy’s SKU levels were flatlining for months.
March and Ash shelves emptying. The most alarming change in the rankings has to do with March & Ash branded locations. After entering into an agreement in October 2025, 3 former March & Ash locations converted to Puff N Dash. Those locations are in San Diego’s City Heights neighborhood, and two in Chula Vista: Broadway and H Street. Those storefronts continue to be well stocked. However, the remaining 5 locations in SD County have very low inventories, with some categories showing 0 items.
Here are the 5 locations, and the inventory percentage when compared to January 2026:
- March & Ash Sabre Springs (-89.56%)
- March & Ash Vista (-86.35%)
- March & Ash Mission Valley (-73.12%)
- March & Ash Imperial Beach (-55.87%)
- March & Ash Telegraph (-47.41%)
Those are alarming decreases. After numerous attempts to reach management, we visited the Mission Valley location over the weekend, and the check in desk was apologetic for not having the selection customers were used to. When asked further if there were issues, he said “Your eyes see what they see.”
The counter staff member said it was due to Puff N Dash having a separate distributor, and that one-by-one the March & Ash locations will be added with Sabre Springs being the first. Stay tuned to this space as this is a developing story.
Wellgreens Launches Delivery Service Wellgreens has launched its first delivery service. Retail success manager Carlo George Toma said “As Wellgreens continues to grow, we’re excited to bring our delivery service to more communities across San Diego. Our focus is simple: make shopping more convenient while delivering the same trusted products and exceptional customer service our customers expect.”
