If you want to spend a few hours volunteering to keep our San Diego beaches — and the entire Pacific Ocean — a bit cleaner, we have the perfect event for you.
Local dispensary Cannabist is sponsoring a beach cleanup event on Saturday, July 2. The event will kick off from 11 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m. Those interested in attending should meet at Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach.
The event will see participants help keep trash and plastic waste out of the ocean, in addition to beautifying the Pacific Beach area.
Even though the cleanup is only a few hours, you’d be surprised just how much a group of people can accomplish when working together. Additionally, Cannabist’s general manager Aaron Skiro said that attendees will be rewarded for their participation.
“Join us the first Saturday of every month at Crystal Pier to clean up our local beaches and create stronger habits and a culture that represents environmental well-being,” Skiro said. “As an appreciation all community participation will be rewarded with a VIP card to Pacific Beach’s premier Cannabis Dispensary. Can’t wait to see you out there!”
If you want to find a bit of Zen and relaxation before the cleanup, there will also be yoga on the beach from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. — just before the beach cleanup. It’ll be a great way to de-stress, stretch your muscles, and get some activity in before the event.
Cannabist is the closest marijuana dispensary to La Jolla, located at 4645 De Soto St. in Pacific Beach. It’s about six miles from La Jolla Cove, so a short drive overall.
This is not the first time that Cannabist has sponsored a similar beach cleanup event. Back in April, the dispensary also held a similar Pacific Beach cleanup. It’s also well-known for other festive events, such as a wrestling-themed luchador smackdown and Halloween parties.
